Activity One: Enhancing Student Success
through Technology-Assisted Learning Resources
Director: Dr. Frank Nigro
Description:
Large numbers of students lack the essential
background and skills to succeed at Shasta College. The majority of classrooms are not equipped and many faculty
are not trained to support new learning technologies and a curriculum which will
prepare students for the 21st Century. The
rural tri-county district has many place-bound current and potential learners
who do not have access to higher education. Three activity components address these problems:
1) Training faculty in the use
and integration of technology; 2) Enhancing the distance education program through expanding sites,
upgrading and acquiring new telecommunication resources; 3)
Developing instructional and student computer/media assisted facilities.
The grant will help Shasta College develop new distance learning
sites in Hayfork and Corning.
It will create a number of digital electronic classrooms and computer
rooms for selected divisions, and a student computer lab.
